She nearly ruined him. Now she needs him to save her.

It was supposed to be a simple protection job.
Or, at least, that’s what Gavino Calvetti thinks until it’s too late.
But he soon finds out this job is far from normal.
It’s quite suicidal, in fact.

The little “Sky” he is in charge of protecting is the same one he’d soon rather see dead.
She nearly ruined him.
Nearly ripped him away from his familia.
She cost him dozens of scars,
Years of regret,
And an underlining hatred for anything related to her.

His brothers always hint about his scarred flesh,
But they never understand the reason he keeps his lips sealed.

Now she needs him to save her life,
But the question still remains …

Which man should she be afraid of?

The man she’s running from,

Or the man she’s racing toward?

COVER REVEAL: So Wrong It's Right by Julie Johnson

Title: So Wrong It's Right
Series: Boston Love #5
Author: Julie Johnson
Genre: Standalone Romantic Comedy
Cover Design: One Click Covers
Release Date: October 30, 2018

Blurb

Shelby Hunt has the perfect life, married to the perfect man.

At least, that’s what anyone would think, looking at her. They couldn’t possibly know about the past five years of lonely nights, or the divorce papers still sitting unsigned on her husband’s desk, or the shady business practices he’s brought home on more than one occasion — often in the form of scary men with loaded guns and briefcases full of laundered cash.

The truth is, Shelby’s perfect life is starting to feel like a prison… one she’s not sure she’ll escape from alive…

Special Agent Conor Gallagher has no time for romance.

As the head of Boston’s elite Organized Crime division, the seasoned FBI agent is far more interested in tracking down bad guys than wining-and-dining dates. But when a new case steers him directly into Shelby’s path, he can’t help the fierce protective instincts that rise up inside him.

She needs an ally. A protector. Someone to keep her safe until the fallout from her husband’s criminal activities is contained. But as Conor gets closer to the plucky brunette, that protectiveness starts to feel a whole lot like passion… and the more time he spends with her, the harder it is to imagine ever letting her go…

SO WRONG IT’S RIGHT is a full-length standalone contemporary romance about a woman desperate to escape a broken marriage… and the bossy perpetual bachelor who steps in to keep her safe. Due to sexy-times, strong language, and suspenseful themes, it is recommended to readers ages 17 and up.

Pete:
Melinda Charles was the woman I’d always wanted—the woman I finally got.

And the one I lost.

She walked away from me on our wedding day without an explanation.
I told myself I didn’t need her. She might have broken part of me when she
left, but I’ve put myself back together, chased away her memory with my own
fame and success. Today? I’m Pete Buchanan, NFL star and small-town
hero.

Now that she’s back? Maybe the promise of a second chance could prove
stronger than the pain of losing her.

Melinda:
I’ve always been tough. As the youngest attending Chief of Orthopedic
Surgery at Memorial Hermann, and the only female African American
specialist in that role, I’ve always had more to prove than everyone else. I’ve
always had to have a reserve of strength no one else needed.
But when fate brings me back to the only man I’ve ever loved, fifteen
years after I left him at the altar, I’m not strong enough to leave him
again.

I still love him.

But am I strong enough to convince him to take me back?

I’m sorry, Cali. I know it isn’t what you wanted to hear, but the test was negative.”
Her hopeful apprehension morphed to dread. “Are you sure? Should we do another?”
Dr. Galloway smiled indulgently. “That won’t be necessary. The tests are very reliable. I’m sure you took one at home as well, didn’t you?”
“Yes.” Her dejected reply was barely a whisper.
“Then you already know taking it again would just be a waste.” The OBGYN doctor wheeled his rolling stool closer to the exam table to pat Cali’s knee in a fatherly way. “I know you and your husband are anxious to get your family started, but you’re only twenty-four. You have plenty of time. We have a lot of options we haven’t tried yet.”
Cali struggled to hold back her tears. How could she tell her kind doctor how important it was for her to get pregnant?
“I think it’s time for us to do testing on your husband. Since we haven’t found any smoking gun on your side of the equation, it’s time to take a look at Mr. Bennett’s sperm count and mobility. That will help me decide our next steps.”
“I don’t know about that, Dr. Galloway. Kevin is so busy with his job. He joined his father’s law firm last year and is working crazy hours. I doubt he can come in for an appointment.” Cali didn’t know how to tell the good doctor her husband had made it very clear giving him an heir was her responsibility, and the only help he planned contributing to the process was a ‘daily hard fuck.’ The array of bruises scattered across her body were proof he was living up to his hard promise.
Calista trembled as she realized her temporary veil of protection had fallen with the negative test result. Kevin was gentler with her during the weeks of the month she might be in the process of forming a fragile new life. For the last year, each month the results were negative, he not only deemed it his responsibility to punish her for failing him yet again, but he then proceeded to make up for lost time. The next two weeks of her life were going to be hell.
No. She couldn’t tell the kind doctor that.
“What would he have to do?”
“Us men have it pretty easy, to be honest,” the doctor grinned wolfishly. “You poor women get poked and prodded with all kinds of needles and drugs. Your husband just needs to come in and give us a deposit of his sperm. He’ll have a private room and will be able to bring along reading or viewing material he might need to help. All in all, the men have it pretty good in this deal.”
How right he was. “Okay, I’ll talk to him about it.”
“Sounds good. Keep your chin up. We’ve done a lot of tests, and I see no reason why you can’t get pregnant. It’s gonna happen when the time is right and not a minute before.”
“Thanks again, doctor.” She forced a smile to hide her growing sense of dread. “I’ll see you next time.”
As Calista redressed, she said a small prayer that Kevin would be in a good mood when he got home today. He’d been out of town on business the last two days. Since passing the bar exam, he’d been working eighty hours a week or more, and in truth, he was gone so much, it made her life less stressful most of the time. Unfortunately, he still checked in at home often enough to dump his dirty laundry and contribute his duty to operation ‘give me an heir.
Sitting at a stop light on the drive home, Cali once again questioned why she stayed with her husband. He’d changed so much since they got married almost two years before. He had always been dominant... demanding. The problem was he’d begun to take the definition of dominant to a whole new level. Cali used to think of herself as a submissive. Lately, she felt more like a well-worn doormat.

Instead of going inside, I walk around the house, to the backyard, to see if I can help bring in any dirty dishes, but the picnic table is empty. All traces of our dinner party have already been cleaned up by the Ducharmes siblings.

I look up at the midnight sky, at the dozens and dozens of stars, and I wonder if Gus is right. What he says feels right, but I feel very young and very small as I stare up at the universe. It’s not wrong to give yourself over to loving if the chance arises.

“We get amazing night skies up here.”

I look over my shoulder and find Julian, tall, barefoot, and beautiful, walking toward me.

“Yes, you do,” I answer, giving him a shy and tentative smile before I turn my attention back upward.

My skin prickles with awareness. My lips tingle, remembering the insistent pressure of his. And elsewhere in my body, I clench hard, willing those deep-set tremors not to start up again right now. I want to believe what Gus has told me—that liking and wanting a man isn’t wrong—but it’s new to me, and I need a little time to reconcile my desire and conscience together.

“When I lived in DC, it was what I missed the most, besides Noelle. More than the cheese. More than the beer. More than the skiing.” He stops, standing beside me, staring up at the firmament. “I missed Vermont’s night skies. And the millions of stars.”

“I can see why,” I say. “When I lived in LA, I never saw stars.” I giggle. “I mean, I saw the people kind, but not the sky kind.”

“Who’s the most famous person you ever met?”

“Hmm. Maybe . . . Gigi Hadid . . . or Bella? Hmm . . . Or Cara Delevingne? Kate Moss mentored my m—Tig for a while, um, and she knew Gisele, of course. Also—”

“Wait a second! Gisele? Did you ever meet Tom Brady?” he asks, his voice eager.

“Let me guess.” I glance at his face. “Patriots fan?”

“The biggest.”

“Tig went to their wedding, but I never met him. Sorry,” I say, giggling as he lays a hand over his heart and pretends to cry. “Speaking of the rich and famous, Noelle tells me you met the vice president while you worked in Washington.”

“She did?” His teasing expression disappears quickly as he straightens, dropping his hand. “Uh, yeah. Long time ago.”

“Not so long,” I say.

“Yeah, well . . . I guess it just feels like a while ago.” I wait for him to say more, hoping to learn why he left Washington so abruptly, but he stretches his arms over his head and yawns. “I’m tired. You must be exhausted.”

“At school I was on the dining hall rotation, which meant cooking for one hundred souls regularly. Tonight was a breeze.”

“Your soup was amazing.”
“Thank you.”
“The steak too.”
“Thank you again.”
“And the tart.”
“That was your sister. Let her know you thought so.”
“And the kiss.”

“Thank—” I’m grinning at him, but my eyes widen at his unexpected compliment, and I immediately look back up at the sky. It’s dark out so he can’t see my blush.

His chuckle is soft and low beside me, and maybe I’m wicked for not feeling more guilty, but I feel my smile grow as I trace Orion’s belt. I don’t dare look at him, but I feel him step closer to me, the warmth of his chest radiating against my back. If I moved slightly, one step even, his body would be flush against mine, and the shiver down my arms has nothing to do with the night chill. I want him to touch me, but I know he won’t.

As though he can read my mind, he whispers, close to my ear, “Not unless you ask.”

I close my eyes and say a prayer for strength and virtue, which, sadly, works, because the next thing I hear is his footsteps receding.

“Good night, sweet Ashley,” he says to my back, his voice a low rumble.

My eyes open slowly to the glittering heavens.

“Good night, sweet prince,” I whisper to Julian’s stars.
