“A sexy, heartwarming read!” —Elle Kennedy, New York Times bestselling author
A Lie for a Lie, an all-new sexy second chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting is available now!
From the New York Times bestselling author of the Pucked series comes a romantic comedy about instant attraction, second chances, and not-so-little white lies.
Sometimes I need an escape from the demands, the puck bunnies, and the notoriety that come with being an NHL team captain. I just want to be a normal guy for a few weeks. So when I leave Chicago for some peace and quiet, the last thing I expect is for a gorgeous woman to literally fall into my lap on a flight to Alaska. Even better, she has absolutely no idea who I am.
Lainey is the perfect escape from my life. My plan for seclusion becomes a monthlong sex fest punctuated with domestic bliss. But it ends just as abruptly as it began. When I’m called away on a family emergency, I realize too late that I have no way to contact Lainey.
A year later, a chance encounter throws Lainey and me together again. But I still have a lie hanging over my head, and Lainey’s keeping secrets of her own. With more than lust at stake, the truth may be our game changer.

REVIEW

Rooks book is finally arrived, and it is so worth the wait! Helena Hunting does not disappoint in delivering a heartfelt second chance, sports (hockey) romance (there is another trope in here but I'm not going to spoil it).
I loved this book. There are a myriad of emotions running through this story. Rook was everything. He was sweet, sexy, swoony, charming, romantic, and funny. Lainey is not Rook's usual type. She's reserved, shy, sweet, determined, smart, and nerdy. They both have their own personal issues that bring them to Alaska where they first meet. Rook needs a break from the pressures of his career, the public eye, and the bunnies. Lainey is trying to escape being kept under her parents' overprotective thumb, so she takes a research job in Alaska. They have a comical meeting. Something about Lainey calls to Rook. He loves that she has no idea who he is, but can a relationship survive being based on a lie?
I loved the way the plot developed. It flowed very smoothly. I especially liked that the entire book wasn't a push and pull until the end. We actually get to enjoy seeing them in the relationship. They had amazing chemistry. I loved seeing characters from the previous Puck series. Outside of the main characters, I LOVED Violet, Rook's sister. She was a hoot!
This is a spinoff of the Pucked Series. It is a standalone with a HEA. This book was so charming but there was the right touch of heartbreak in it too. The writing is superb. I felt all of the feels, and highly recommend reading it!
