SYNOPSIS
Lauren
From the moment I bump into him at the coffee shop, I know I am in trouble. The way he looks at me – confident as though he’s won me over already – tells me he’s unlike any other guy.
Lawrence isn’t a boy, he’s a man. And he’s pursuing me relentlessly.
During one whirlwind night together, he makes me feel things I never thought possible; shows me passion I’ve never known before. Could he be the one, or is our love doomed to fail like all the others who came before? You see, guys tend to run once they find out who I am…
Lawrence
Lauren is mine from the moment I first spotted her, she just doesn’t know it yet. When I put my mind to something – whether in business or in my personal life- I’m the sort of guy who follows through, normally.
I vow to woo Lauren, to convince her she’s the shining beacon that’s been missing in my world, when an unforeseen revelation ruins everything. Once I find out her last name, it opens up a world of complications. I’m in business with her father and he isn’t going to take kindly to our affair.
If I want a chance to claim her, just how much am I willing to give up – personally as well as professionally?

EXCERPT
Lawrence
What a woman. I’d spotted her the moment I walked in, preoccupied with her phone while warming her other hand in front of the fire. I knew that I couldn’t walk out of here without trying to start a conversation.
Her long red hair could light up even the dreariest day, as today had been right up to that point. Life can be funny that way. Just at the moment that your reality starts to resemble a dumpster fire, you end up running into the woman of your dreams.
When she blindly raced towards my cup of coffee, I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by. Although I’d presented it as such, placing my hand on top of hers wasn’t a happy accident. It was engineered in that very moment I saw the mix-up unfold.
Lauren is still staring at me. Her expressive blue eyes betray a certain intelligence and assertiveness, even if currently she appears to be speechless. It amuses me to think that perhaps I’m the one having that effect on her.
It’s more likely she’s still preoccupied by whatever news she’d received on her phone, though. I’m tempted to ask what happened, if I could be of some assistance, perhaps.
Then I remember I have my very own shit storm to deal with already.
“Well, looks like I got my coffee as well. Can I have my hand back now?” She blinks at me and I can only smile.
“That’s fair,” I say and let go of her.
The girl behind the counter gives me a stern look and clears her throat.
“We’re not going to have a problem here, are we?” she asks.
I shake my head and wink at Lauren. “All good, right?”
Lauren straightens her back and frowns again. “Yeah, don’t worry, I can take care of this one myself.”
I’d like to see her try. Undeterred, I finally pick up my coffee and take a tentative first sip. It’s searing hot, just how I like it. Now I’m doubly glad to have wandered into this place; the coffee is as good as the clientele.
Beside me, Lauren does the same, when her phone rings.
“Hello?”
I can’t hear what’s being said on the other end, just that it’s another woman she’s talking to.
Good. I can’t bear the thought of her answering a call from her boyfriend right in front of me. I must figure out if she’s single, first of all.
“Yeah, I’ll see you at the shop. Okay, I’ll be right there.”
Lauren nods at Alice and walks out of the door without so much as acknowledging me. I try not to take it personally.
Wherever she’s going, it has to be nearby since she’s on foot. I’m considering going after her, when I catch the coffee shop girl looking in my direction with one eyebrow raised up high.
“Look—” I lean over to read her name tag. “Alice. I’m not trying to be a creep, but you seem to know Lauren.”
Alice shrugs but doesn’t betray any emotion. “She’s a regular.”
I nod and smile. “That’s all I needed to know. Because I intend to ask her out when I see her again.”
“Good luck with that,” Alice says. I can’t tell if she’s being sarcastic or not, but I don’t really care. One way or another, I’m going to make sure I not only see Lauren again, I’m going to ensure she sees me too.
ABOUT L. MOONE
Realistic characters, pure emotions, true passion. Everything I write is about the characters: how they interact, what’s going on in their heads, how the passionate relationship develops and affects them. I don’t believe in keeping things hidden, or dressing them up just for show. Some of my characters are potty-mouths, most of them are less than perfect (yes, even physically). I aim to write a happy ending for all of them, without keeping anything behind closed doors.
