Someone calls my name and I turn my head, seeing Gemma wave me over.
Warren pauses. “Is that…”
I nod, a smile tugging at my lips. “Yeah, man.”
He laughs, slapping my shoulder. “Good luck, my friend.”
I make my way over to her and follow her down the hallway to where our greenrooms are. I like this beginning of the night, where people are focused on their jobs and not nagging me for attention right now, except the woman in front of me. She can nag me for attention anytime.
She leads me into an empty greenroom and shuts the door behind me. “Uh-oh, am I in trouble again?”
Humor dances in her eyes and she shakes her head. “No.”
“Then what—” Her lips against mine cut me off and I immediately take hold of her hips, gripping her roughly. Her tongue touches mine and I let out a moan.
“Damn, Gem.” She smiles while kissing me and her hand starts to sneak down the front of my torso, I brace myself for her touch when banging on the door I’m leaning against breaks us apart.
“Come on, horn dogs, I know you’re in there! They just opened the doors!” Ryan’s cocky voice comes through the door.
“Go away!” I reply, reaching for Gemma. But she pulls away, shaking her head.
“No, I need to get out there and keep an eye on things.”
I fight a genuine pout and sigh. “Fine.”
Her eyes lock on mine, and the fun, lighthearted Gemma who dragged me in here disappears. In her place is the serious FBI agent.
It’s no surprise to me that I’m hopelessly in love with every facet of this woman.
“Be careful tonight,” she says, gripping my hands. “Stay aware of your surroundings… but also, kill it out there.” She smacks a kiss to my lips and slips around me and out the door.
