BLURB
I had two rules in life:
Never fall in love.
Never have sex with a student.
As a college preceptor, you’re not supposed to fraternize with your pupils, but what happens when you get a taste of the forbidden before you know it isn’t supposed to be yours?
That night at Brian’s bachelor party was epic. We danced, I dominated, and she left. One night, no further contact, no regrets, just how I liked it—until she walked into my algebra class the next week, and I knew the two rules I had in place had to change.
Never fall in love.
Never get caught having sex with a student.
EXCERPT
There were times when Raphael and I danced together, our bodies twisting and turning as more songs continued to play. I could feel Cas watching us, but I didn’t care. I was having a good time with him. At least he wasn’t an asshole. The DJ announced she was taking a few-minute break, so I walked back over to Anna.
“Anna, where’s the bathroom?”
“It’s back there,” she said, pointing toward the back of the room.
“Thanks. I’ll be right back, Raph.”
As I went inside the room and closed the door behind me, locking it, so no one else barged in, someone pounded on the door as soon as I finished.
“Sorry, occupied.”
“Taylin, open the door right now.” The familiar voice stopped me in my tracks.
“Go away, Cas,” I said, washing my hands and looking at myself in the mirror to buy me some time.
“Open the door before I break it down!” he yelled. Is this guy for real?
I unlocked the door, not wanting him to cause a huge scene.
“What do you want?” I huffed, shocked by the audacity he had.
He pushed his way in, locking the door behind us. He cornered me and placed his hands on the walls beside me. “What are you doing here?” His eyes narrowed at me.
Having him this close did something to my body. I wasn’t afraid, but slightly turned on.
“I don’t have to tell you shit.”
“Answer me!” he demanded.
I held my ground with him, looking him in his eyes. I wanted to give him such a hard time, and make him pay for everything he had done, but something inside of me obliged. “Your boy, Jay, is dating my best friend, Anna. He invited her, and she brought me. Not that it even matters.”
He went quiet and looked me up and down. “It fucking matters. I’ve missed you,” he admitted. His head hung low.
“I don’t care. Get out!” I said, tears blurring my vision.
“No.” He tilted my chin up, staring intensely into my eyes. “I won’t. You shouldn’t be here with him.”
“Then who should I be here with, Cas?” I pushed him back, trying to create some space between us.
“Me.” What a joke.
“Well, you’ve ignored me for how many months now?”
“I had to.”
“Who told you that you had to?”
“It’s complicated, Taylin. Fuck! I just—”
I cut him off, I didn’t even want to hear whatever excuse he was getting ready to say to me. “A simple text would have sufficed, but no, you couldn’t even do that!” I yelled, tears sliding down my cheek.
“I’m sorry, but I’m gonna take back what’s mine. Tell me to stop if you don’t want it.” His eyes darkened with desire.
I couldn’t tell if it was the alcohol or me craving his touch, but I choked out, “I want it.”
Our lips crashed together as his hands roamed freely all over my body. He clasped my hands together behind my back and propped my ass up on the sink, moving my dress out of the way for easy access.
“You will never dance with another man ever again. You got it?”
“Then don’t piss me off,” I sassed with a raised brow.
He tightened his grip on my wrists behind me. “Do you understand what I said, Ms. Bradford?”
“Yes.” I nodded, completely breathless.
“Good, girl.”
