RELEASE BLITZ: Mixed by Lane Martin

Title: Mixed (A Recipe For Love Series #3)

Author: Lane Martin

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: February 5, 2018

Synopsis

Mixed is a full-length standalone novel in the Recipe for Love Series. What happens when you “mix” together sexy chef, Logan Wheeler, and bartender, Libby Barnes? I read one of those cute decorative signs at a truck stop gift shop on my way from Nashville to New York. It took everything in me not to laugh my ass off right next to the beef jerky and air fresheners. I was also tempted to buy both for two reasons. Number one, I’m pregnant, and number two, I’m pregnant. Every once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, Love gives you a Fairytale. What a crock. There are no such things as fairytales. Besides, what’s ordinary anyway? I’d be happy with a roof over my head, a steady paycheck, helping my sister mend her broken heart, and not screwing up as a parent. Anything after that would just be frosting. Yum, frosting. Damn cravings. OK, OK, maybe I should have re-read the first line. Every once in a while, Because my ordinary life became extraordinary, the second Logan Wheeler crashed my doctor’s appointment and held my hand when I heard my baby’s heartbeat for the first time. I wasn’t looking for a baby daddy. I guess that’s when you usually find things. Now I’m just hoping for Happily Ever After. I’m Libby Barnes, and I can tell you one thing for sure, I wasn’t looking for a man when I moved to New York. In fact, I was trying to get away from one, my “baby daddy.” God, I hated that term. I probably should have just told Edward we were over and that I was leaving. Oh yeah, I should have told him I was knocked up too. You know what they say about hindsight? Well, she’s a real bitch. My broken-hearted sister, Emily, needed me and I needed a fresh start. So I showed up unannounced on her doorstep with the universal cure-all, aka Ben and Jerry’s and my growing bundle of joy, hidden under my clothes. My only real plan was to be the good sister my twin deserved and to be a mom my kid could be proud of. I certainly didn’t need anyone to help me with either of those goals. The only thing I did need was a job. I sure as hell wasn't expecting to hear the words “you’re hired” when my sister suggested we eat out at one of the swankiest restaurants in the city. But then again, I wasn’t expecting to have to show the bartender how to make a Manhattan either. My entire body shouldn’t have tingled as I followed the gravelly voice of the man who said those two simple words and it shouldn’t have made my panties wet. I’d had to remind myself to close my mouth as he’d stood before me with a smirk, his sexy black chef's coat, and my personal kryptonite, tattoos on his arms. Logan Wheelers wasn’t part of my plan. But you know what they say about the best-laid plans. Who am I kidding? I’ve always been a fly by the seat of my pants type of girl. I’m Logan Wheeler. I had everything I needed in life. OK, maybe that’s not true. I needed a bartender for my restaurant. ASAP. I guess that’s why I wasn’t surprised when I was told I needed to get out to the bar to see what was going on. I wasn’t expecting what I found at all. She looked exactly like her twin, only better. Her rack was amazing but even better than that was the way she looked behind the bar. My bar. It was where she belonged. Behind it. On top of it. Underneath it. Hell, I didn’t care where. As long as I had her. I live my life by one motto, no regrets. I’d already had enough of those for one lifetime and the first time I saw her I knew not going for Libby would be the greatest regret of my life.

Excerpt

Libby “You’re hired,” I don’t know if it was the words or the voice that said them from behind me that got to me the most. I know he only vocalized two of them, but his timber was rich, relaxed, and manly, and fucking sexy as hell. A shiver ran down my spine before I turned to see if the face matched the voice. I wasn’t disappointed. His dark hair was short and styled like all he did was towel dry it. His ruggedly handsome square jaw was covered in scuff, along with his upper lip. I wanted to know what it would feel like on my skin. Let’s just say it was a good thing I was already pregnant because one look from this guy and I could have gotten knocked up again. I hadn’t even gotten to the best part yet. He was wearing a black short sleeve chef coat with his name embroidered over his heart. Logan. Did I mention that his arms were covered in ink? They were beautiful and intricate designs that made you want to get closer so that you could study them, run your finger along the edges. This man had many stories to tell, and I wanted to see and hear every one of them. “Oh shit,” Jackson mumbled before making himself look busy. Despite the bustling dining room, the bar wasn’t very crowded. Maybe it was because people knew they would never get a table. It could also have had to do with the barkeep. Jackson was a cutie; by he couldn’t mix a drink to save his life. I also knew Swayed was known for its wine list and staff of sommeliers. The wine cellar was probably bigger than the bar itself which was a damn shame. “Logan, they let you out of the kitchen?” My sister asked the sexy beast of a man approached us with an amused grin on his face. I guessed this was how we were getting a table; they obviously knew each other. My twin had been holding out on me. “Every once in a while, Emily,” he answered before placing a kiss on my sister's cheek. I envied that cheek. Logan turned his attention to the bartender. “Are we letting patron’s mix their own cocktails now?” “What? You implied she was hired, so technically she’s an employee.” I nearly choked on my drink when Logan turned his attention towards me. He was even better looking close up. His beautiful brown eyes shone with amusement as he tried not to laugh. He put out his hand and offered, “I’m Logan Wheeler.” What no kiss for me? “Libby Barnes.” I introduced myself as he took my hand. Interesting, he was a topper. I considered myself an expert handshake reader. His shake was about power, don’t get me wrong. It was subtle as shit, but I didn’t doubt he was in charge. It wasn’t aggressive or forceful, but with his hand facing downward and my palm upward it was clear he was thinking ten steps ahead. As I returned the shake, I rotated our wrists. You’re not the boss of me. The look he gave me in response told me everything I needed to know. Message received. Our hands remained joined for much longer than was necessary. “Sorry to break up the love fest, but can I get another “perfect” Manhattan?” The server used air quotes as she ordered the drink. Jackson looked at me with pleading eyes. I was a sucker, so I got off my chair and rounded the bar again. “Isn’t she great?” Emily asked as Logan watched me intently. “She is.” Once again that shiver ran down my spine. Christ Libby get ahold of yourself. “I thought your sister was in Nashville.” “She was,” I answered, “I mean I was.” Good job Lib, make yourself look like a complete idiot. “I’m here now.” I turned to the pass with the drink I’d just made to hide my blush.

Writing never crossed my mind. I was a working wife and mother, but in June of 2012 that all changed when my sister bought me a little book by E.L. James for my birthday. I couldn’t get enough of the series, and that’s when I found out about Fanfiction. I decided to give it a whirl and rediscovered a part of me I had long since forgotten. With the encouragement of my Fanfiction readers and the support of my family, I decided to write something of my own. I guess you can say the rest is history. I currently live in Northern California with my husband of over twenty years and my high school age son, while my daughter attends college in Washington, DC. I love reading, spending time with my family, traveling, and trying out restaurants that are on Food Network. Thank you for joining me on this crazy ride.

BLOG TOUR: Living Out Loud by Staci Hart

Living Out Loud-Blog tour.jpg

Living Out Loud, an all-new emotional standalone from Staci Hart is available NOW!

LOL-wrap

Bestselling author Staci Hart brings you another installment of the Austen Series, inspired by the works of Jane Austen, with a heartfelt contemporary retelling of Sense and Sensibility.

When Annie Daschle arrives in New York City, the only thing she can control is her list.

Not her father’s death or the loss of her home. Not the hole in her heart or the defective valve that’s dictated so much of her life. But she can put pen to paper to make a list of all the ways she can live out loud, just like her dad would have wanted.

See the city from the top of the Empire State Building: Check.

Eat hot dogs on the steps of The Met: Check.

Get a job at Wasted Words: Check.

What wasn’t on her list: Greg Brandon. And just when she thinks she’s figured out where to put him, everything changes. In the span of a few staggering heartbeats, she finds herself her caught in the middle of something she can’t find her way out of, with no clear answers and no rules.

List or no list, she realizes she can’t control anything at all, not even her heart.

Not the decisions it makes, and not the moment it stops.

Excerpt:

GREG We chatted as we walked down Fifth to the bike rental station and unlocked one of the blue bicycles. And a little while and one park bench later, we were walking through the park in search of a grassy stretch off the beaten path. We found what we had been looking for—a space lined with trees, somewhat shielded from the rolling, open knoll by boulders jutting up out of the grass. “This looks good,” I said, lowering the kickstand before taking off my backpack. She pulled off her bag, looking nervously at the bike as she took a seat in the grass. A thin sheen of sweat glistened on her cheeks and forehead, her face a little pale. “You sure you’re okay?” I asked, eyeing her. She smiled—her favorite way to answer. “It looks worse than it is. Promise.” I frowned. “Really, maybe the bike is too much. Maybe we can do this after your surgery.” “Greg, I’m fine. Come sit by me for a minute.” I kept my arguments to myself and sat next to her. “The cool air feels so nice,” she said, gathering up her hair and pulling it over one shoulder, exposing her neck. “When they fix your heart, will you still feel like this?” “No. I should be able to do anything physical I want within a few weeks of the surgery.” My brows drew together. “Really? After open-heart surgery?” “Really. It’s not like a heart transplant or anything. The hardest part of my recovery will be the incision and the fusing of my sternum back together.” A shudder tickled its way down my spine at the thought of a bone saw opening her rib cage. “What all will they do to your heart?” “Close the hole, repair my valve. I’ve had open-heart surgery before, but I was too little to remember anything about it. The scar is the only proof that it happened. Well, that and my mother’s stories. But this shouldn’t be too hard on the muscle itself, just some sutures when it’s all said and done. My body will work a lot more efficiently once the surgery is complete—like, immediately. I just have to get through the whole split-ribs thing,” she said with a little smirk. “All right, I feel better. Are you ready?” She looked better. Her cheeks and lips were tinged with color, and the waxy quality her skin had taken on was gone. “Ready when you are.” We got to our feet, and I stepped to the bike to lower the seat. Once it was down, I waved her over. “Come here and see if this works.” She climbed on cautiously, her feet on the ground and her hands gripping the handlebars. The seat was probably too low, but I figured it’d be better for her center of gravity—plus she could stop herself easier if she tipped. “Okay,” I started, one hand on the back seat and my other on the handlebar next to her hand, “I’m gonna hang on and hold you steady while you pedal.” She shot me a worried glance. “And if I fall?” “You get up and try again.” She laughed, not looking convinced. “Don’t worry; you’re not going to hurt yourself on the grass, but I’m not going to let you fall. I’ve got you, okay?” With a deep breath, she nodded once. “Okay.” “All right. Put your feet on the pedals.” My grip tightened when the balance was all on me. “Ready?” “Ready,” she echoed with determination. “Now, pedal.” She did, moving us both forward, the bike only wobbling a little bit under her. “Good, let’s go to that tree. Just keep it slow like this.” Her tongue poked out of her lips, her hands white-knuckled on the handlebars until she got to the tree. And when she smiled, it was with more confidence. “I did it!” I laughed. “You did. Come on, let’s go back. Ready?” She nodded, and we took off again. This time, she wobbled a little less, speeding up until I had to trot next to her to keep up. When we stopped at our backpacks, she cheered. “Again!” “All right,” I said on a chuckle. “I’m just gonna hang on to the back this time. And…go.” I did just that, my hands on the back of the seat, the handlebars swerving a little but nothing she couldn’t correct. And then I let go. She didn’t notice, wholly focused on staying upright, and I kept jogging, pulling up beside her. When she glanced over, I held my hands up in the air and wiggled my fingers. Her face opened up with joy, and a whoop passed her lips—just before she swerved into me. A string of expletives hissed out of me as I tried to grab her, but it was too late. She tumbled into me, bike and all, taking us down to the cold grass. Annie was lying on top of me, her hair tossed across her face. The ground was cold and damp under me, and the handlebar of the bike was jammed into my ribs, but I barely even noticed. Not with Annie sprawled out across my body, her green eyes sparkling and her laughter ringing in my ears. My own laughter met hers like an old friend. “Are you okay?” I asked, sweeping her hair out of her face to tuck it behind her ear. She flushed but made no move to pull away from me. “I’m fine. Are you okay?” “I’ll live.” We watched each other for a moment through the rise and fall of my chest, the movement carrying her like a rocking ship. And then she giggled again, climbing off me before reaching for the bike. It was then that I began to fully comprehend the depth of the trouble I’d found myself in. LOL-AN

Synopsis

I’m engaged to be married. But I have feelings for someone else… my sisters soon to be ex. I keep feeling this magnetic pull toward Guy. Maybe it’s his British accent. Or the way his hair curls at the ends that makes me want to run my hands through it. Maybe it’s the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles. Whatever it is, something is there, and I can’t shake it. He’s my brother in law. It’s so wrong on so many levels. Even if there was a possibility there, it feels wrong because he belonged to my sister first. It’s becoming hard to ignore the nervousness that swirls inside me whenever I’m around him. He says he won’t give up until I tell him I choose Trevor instead. I can’t tell him that.

Excerpt

Since my sister left Guy, I’ve barely heard from her. However, he’s thrown himself into the restaurant and even won an award for Best Steakhouse in the area. That is exceptionally rare for such a new restaurant. Lately, I’ve noticed there hasbeen a little pep in Guy’s step.

“Hey.” Smiling, I tug on his sleeve playfully.

“Yeah?” He spins around to face me.

“It’s good to have you back.”

“What did you call it? Back to the land of the living.” He smirks, nudging my arm with his elbow.

I laugh. “Yeah.”

“With the restaurant flourishing, I’m happy to be busy.”

To top everything off, I’ve been feeling this magnetic pull toward Guy. I don’t know. Maybe it’s his British accent, or the way his hair curls at the ends, that makes me want to run myhands through it. Maybe it’s the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles.

Whatever it is, something is there. And I can’t shake it. He’s my brother-in-law. Or my soon to be ex-brother-in-law. It’s so wrong on so many levels. Even if there was a possibility there, he belonged to my sister first. But it’s becoming hard to ignore the nervousness that swirls in my belly and my fast beating heart whenever I’m around him.

Six months ago, my boyfriend of five years finally proposed, and I said yes. That was way before my feelings for Guy shifted. Just being in Guy’s presence is already affecting me in ways that I can’t explain.

Then again, just because I feel a pull to someone, it doesn’t mean I’m in love with him. But my fast beating heart thinks otherwise.

I sit back in my desk chair and look out at the city. It’s the same window my father looked out of for longer than I can remember. I’ve been thinking about him and my mom a lot lately. They’re off on another vacation enjoying one another and life. They call and check in, but I know they’re happy traveling the world.
I’ve got a stack of papers on my desk that I need to go over, but I don’t feel like it today. For some reason, I’ve felt an ache in my chest for the past couple of days, one I haven’t felt in a long time, mostly because I’ve learned to ignore it. But the beating in my heart can’t be ignored, and my thoughts drift to Kory, just like they always do.
I rub the place between my ribs and wonder if this is exactly what my father felt like, looking out onto a city where he knew the love of his life was, but she was just beyond his reach.
For years I tried to fight it, but it never once went away. Not even for a second.
I think back to the day I asked her to the prom and how it all seemed so perfect. I picked her up at her apartment and met her mom. We laughed and held hands while we went to my aunt and uncle’s house for pictures. She looked so beautiful in her white dress. I kept thinking she looked more like a bride, and I loved it. At eighteen years old, I pictured her walking down an aisle to me, and I wanted so badly for it to be real.
But then everything went to shit, and in an instant, it was gone.
I’m my father’s son, even though I’ve spent my life trying not to be. I knew the way he was with my mom. He was out of his mind for her, and nothing else mattered. I never wanted to be that way. I didn’t want someone to have that much power over me because it was dangerous. That’s what I knew to be true. But all it took was one look at Kory and all of that changed.
It’s been years and I haven’t gotten over her. The day she disappeared was the day I lost my soul. She took it with her, and I’ve never so much as glanced at another woman since. Why would I? I might have been young, and it might have not meant anything to her, but I’ve never felt anything like it since. I knew when I was eighteen that I’d met the love of my life, but she slipped through my fingers.

RELEASE TOUR: Stud by Kelly Siskind

Title: Stud
Author: Kelly Siskind
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: January 31, 2018
A down-to-earth carpenter. A Prada loving personal shopper.
A Habitat for Humanity project that erects more than walls…
The word “nail” has so many meanings:
Ainsley Hall’s manicured nails belong in the Museum of Modern Art.
The fashionista hammers nails at Habitat for Humanity.
She desperately wants to nail Owen Phillips.
Unfortunately, she mistakenly thinks he’s gay.
Owen’s never-ending divorce has taken a turn from messy to downright vindictive. Yearning for the simpler things in life, like working with his hands, he joins a Habitat build. Turns out he also wants to work over Ainsley Hall…but the confusing bombshell flirts blatantly with other men.
When Ainsley discovers Owen’s true sexuality, their mutual attraction ignites, but he hasn’t shared the extent of his divorce drama. If he can’t disprove his ex’s false allegations, it will take more than hammers and nails (and nailing studs) to keep their walls from caving in.
Her gaze dipped down my body, slow and languid, soaking me in. Something in me twitched to life, like a phantom limb reminding me hot blood once pumped through my veins. All my veins. My groin got heavy, heat flushing my thighs. Because she looked at me. I let that notion marinate and did my best to keep my brain on target. “If you plan on volunteering, show up at the construction site at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Nick will take you through the paces.” “Will you be here?” “Possibly.” “Are you here every day?” “Some.” “Do you often answer questions with one word?” “Depends.” She tipped her head, those stunning eyes intent upon me. Suddenly, heading home for beers and pizza didn’t sound as appealing. I dug my boots deeper into the earth. She swiped her tongue across her full bottom lip. “All right, tough guy. I’ll be here next week, volunteer ready, where you may or may not be, depending on if you do or do not decide to show up.” Every word dripped with flirtatiousness, but I stayed quiet. The way I’d all but grunted at her so far, probably better to keep my mouth shut. So we stood there—her waiting on me to speak, a skateboarder barreling down the road at our left. Me unsure why she was affecting me. I missed being with a woman. Missed the slide of soft skin and wet mouths, and locking my girl in my arms for the night. But I’d sworn I’d do it right this time. Not rush in. Make sure I dated someone with depth and interests outside of making bank. Everything about this spitfire girl read narcissistic. When our silence slipped into awkward, she fluttered her fingers in my face. “It’s been…interesting.” I offered her a curt nod. Chuckling to herself, she spun around, but her right heel wedged into the loose dirt. Those damn shoes were lethal. She sank an inch and teetered, but seemed to catch herself. Then her massive purse fell. The thick strap landed on her forearm, tipping the balance. She shot out her hand, struggling to stay upright. I lunged for her, clasping her trim waist to hold her steady. And close. Too close. Not near enough for her to feel how I was thickening behind my zipper, but the air swelled. It dilated with feminine scents. Something sweet. Nice.  She smelled like chocolate. My hands spanned her waist from behind, her curves above and below all woman. Hour glass, like a modern-day Marilyn Monroe. Jean Harlow. Mae West. Over the years, I’d watched every classic movie there was, wishing I could slip to a time when men danced and women sang and loyalty and love were valued over getting ahead. An old soul, my nana always said. Or a romantic. Or just plain trouble. Now I had my hands on a dangerous beauty.
A small-town girl at heart, Kelly moved from the city to open a cheese shop with her husband in northern Ontario. When she’s not neck deep in cheese or out hiking, you can find her, notepad in hand, scribbling down one of the many plot bunnies bouncing around in her head. She laughs at her own jokes and has been known to eat her feelings—gummy bears heal all. She’s also an incurable romantic, devouring romance novels into the wee hours of the morning.
