COVER REVEAL: Monsters by Amanda Richardson

Title: MONSTERS
Series: HEATHENS #2
Author: Amanda Richardson
Genre: Dark Romance
Cover Design: E. James Designs
Release Date: June 15, 2021

BLURB

Can I destroy the monsters without becoming one?

Evelyn Snow is impenetrable—daring, defiant, and oftentimes reckless. After escaping the worst thing imaginable, tempting death brings her solace. Now a student at Oxford, she’s trying to move on. The last thing she expects is an invitation to the Blackfriars Brotherhood—a secret society based in London. It’s a proposition she can’t pass up.

Benedict Martin is the son of a monster. Attempting to distance himself from his father, he moves to London and reinvents his life. When the past comes back to haunt him in the form of Evelyn Snow, he knows he should keep her safe, push her away—but he can’t help but admire her courage and resilience. Instead, he invites her to join him in the darkness.

When they finally surrender to the scorching connection between them, it’s a fight between carnal depravity, vengeance, and forgiveness—one neither of them knows the outcome of until they’re staring the enemy in the eyes.

Maybe monsters are born—or perhaps they can be honed.

MONSTERS is book two of the HEATHENS series. It is highly recommended that HEATHENS (book one) be read first for the best reader experience.

EXCERPT

“When is the last time you let a man pleasure you like that?” he murmurs.
I stiffen, and he must notice, because he lowers his hand.
“How come?”
I shrug, my breath heavy. “I haven’t wanted to.” I don’t have to speak the rest of the sentence.
He’s quiet for a few seconds. The emphatic sounds all around us cause me to break out in a cold sweat. Being here, with him, talking about this…
“And now?” he asks, once again pulling me in by my waist.
I close my eyes. I have survived. I have risen from the ashes, triumphant, powerful. My past will not dictate my future. I am sick of being afraid. Of being angry. I want this—all of this. And it’s natural. I am human, after all. And Benedict knows how to maneuver that part of me—he knows how to pull my strings, manipulating my body so subtly with his rough fingers, grazing my skin so, so gently…
And the most surprising thing about all of this is that I want him to.
“Yes,” is all I say, raking my nails against his forearms. He lets out a low rumble.
A faint roaring sounds in my ears when his hand moves underneath my shirt, grazing my taut nipple against the thin mesh of my bra. The sound of people grinding against each other is drowned out by my heartbeat as he slowly moves his thumb in circles. A heavy ache pools in my core, sinking lower, moving deeper, with every movement of his thumb against my breast.
“Go to my office,” he commands, twisting me around so that I’m facing him. The look on his face makes me gasp. His pupils are dilated, and his eyes are glazed, hooded—edged with some kind of blazing darkness.
He looks like a man coming undone at the seams.
I nod and march confidently to the door we came out of, despite my ragged breathing; despite my chest visibly rising and falling. My knees are wobbly, so I sit on the velvet couch and take a few steadying breaths. If someone had a match, I was sure that I would burst into flames if they came too close. I am combustible. My underwear is soaked, and I squeeze my legs together as I wait.
A few minutes later, the door flies open, and Benedict is there—breathing heavily, hands opening and closing. He slams the door shut before turning his attention to me. I slowly stand, facing him with every ounce of resolve I have.
I’m being hunted, and he’s the predator.
“I hope you know what you do to me,” Benedict says, his voice low. He’s so different from the man I spent the weekend in Paris with. That man was lighter, happier, more carefree. But the one before me now? He’s dark, troubled, haunted. “What you’ve always done to me.”
“I—”
Before I can say anything else, he moves towards me and pushes my body against the vanity, his arms on either side of my shoulders. He lowers his face to within an inch of mine. I audibly gasp as his body collides with mine, the heat flushing through me despite what my mind is screaming at me. I can feel his erratic heartbeat, and I know he’s as unnerved as I am. Impatient—fervent.
His lips slam against mine, and he pins my hands behind me, gripping my waist with the other hand so that there’s not a sliver of space between us. He fanatically pulls me closer, pushing and pulling with every breath, every stroke of his tongue in mine, our bodies colliding and sliding against each other. My core tightens, and the space between my legs swells, so that every movement feels exquisite. His tongue darts into my mouth, and I whimper as he parts my lips. With every inhale, he tries to pull me closer, and with every exhale, he pushes me away—like he’s trying to breathe me in.
Like he’s trying to consume me.

EXCERPT

“I hit you with my car,” I say. Just call me Captain Obvious.
He starts to stand, and I practically lunge for him. “You shouldn’t move! You might have a neck injury!”
He just stares at me while I continue to say all the dumb things running through my head.
“Do you need the hospital? Do you think you have internal bleeding. Oh, or a concussion?”
Oh my God. Why am I still talking?
He still doesn’t answer. Instead he leverages himself to a standing position all with the usage of only one leg and his arms. His other leg he kind of hovers over the ground, not putting weight on it.
“Oh my God, did I break your leg? Shit, I’m such a disaster.” I wedge myself under his arm, and then brace my arm around his waist. “Lean on me.”
“I’ve got it,” he growls.
“Don’t be a baby, I can help. It’s my fault you’re injured.” I shouldn’t notice how divine he smells, but I do. Because that’s me - if a moment can be made awkward or inappropriate, I’ll be the driving force.
But this is next level, even for me, because I nearly just killed him and I should not be sniffing him!
But seriously, as we clumsily make our way to the front porch, I want to bury my face in his neck and inhale him. It’s like pine and fresh water and linen and a summer rainstorm and sexy man all rolled into one.
He’s also massive. I’m not a tiny woman. I’m not tall, but I’m not small. If I was being politically correct I might say I’m big boned, but the truth of the matter is, I’m what the media would call plus sized. I have big boobs, a tummy, big hips a big butt. I’m just full of curves and bumps and I’ve been in my own skin enough to love myself, but I know I’m not what most men want.
“I’m not being a baby,” he grumbles with that low, sexy voice of his. “You’re the size of a child so I’m not sure how leaning on you is going to help me.”
“I’m not the size of a child!”
“Pretty much,” he grumbles.
“Now that you’re actually speaking to me, do you need to go to the hospital?”
“No.”
“Are you sure? Because you could have a concussion. Nearly four million people get concussions every year. True, most of those of sports related, but—”
“I don’t have a concussion. You bumped me. I fell down. That’s it.”
“A good percentage of traumatic brain injury related deaths are due to falls, particularly among small children and the elderly.”
His gaze narrows as he stops walking to glare down at me. “I’m not fucking elderly.”
I swallow and then clear my throat. “No. You’re not. Obviously. You’re—” A huge, sexy beast of a man. Who is not fragile or elderly.
Every cell in my body lights up with neon flashing signs. Not safe! Not safe! Not safe!
And those neon signs aren’t worried at all about my physically safety. No, this guy isn’t giving off any serial killer vibes. He’s giving off sexy, beast man vibes. The kind that effortlessly tear down the defenses of demur homebodies like me.
Woozza.
I am in so much trouble here.
Except, I’m not. Because he’s a sexy beast and I’m … well, me.
Then again, as we stand there in the sun-dappled shade in front of his house, with his arm around my shoulders and my body wedged so close to his, his gaze shifts from a glare to something else as his eyes roam my face and then drop to my lips.
And I get the strangest sensation that he’s thinking about kissing me.
Which is totally ridiculous. Because men never think about kissing me.
“Yep,” I say out loud. “You have a concussion. Almost definitely.”
Why else would he be looking at me like that?
“I don’t have a concussion,” he says, taking another step toward the house.
Regardless of what he says, I am helping him. “I’m like your human crutch,” I say brightly, trying to make him at least crack a tiny smile.
There’s no way I’m letting him tackle those steps by himself. What if he falls again? Which seems very likely given his befuddled state.
He grunts. “That’s not what I’d call you.”
Rude.
Once we reach the porch, he holds onto one of the thick wooden beams and hops on one leg up the stairs. It’s an impressive feat of pure, unadulterated strength and I’m not unaffected. Nope, I’m staring at his ass muscles moving beneath the denim of his jeans.
“You have very good muscle control for someone with a concussion.”
“I don’t have a concussion.”
“We’ll see.”
Only I would manage to find the hottest man in the world in the middle of nowhere in the mountains and then hit him with my car.

I finish my beer and add it to the growing empty pile beside the cooler. Fluffing my hair, I shake out my arms and smile at my roommate. “I’m going to dance. Alone.”
His eyes follow me as I walk over to the actual fire where some people sit on the ground but quite a few are dancing. Sail by AWOLNATION plays, the beat vibrating along with the pulse of my blood flowing through my veins.
I danced from the time I was four through high school. Even though I love math and the sciences, and consider myself on the more studious side, dance has been my creative outlet, a passion. I know I’m good at it, and as I move my body, eyes closed, I know people are watching. When I dance I don’t care why they’re looking at me or what they’re thinking. I do it for me. Because it feels good to move my body, to exist in a moment. Dance is freeing, it’s the language of our bodies.
When I finally open my eyes, they connect immediately with caramel brown ones. He’s moved closer to the bonfire, beer bottle in hand while his jaw works angrily at the piece of gum he’s chewing.
I know I shouldn’t do it.
I’ve sworn off men.
He’s my roommate.
He’s hot as hell.
But I do it anyway.
I crook my finger. It’s a challenge, a silent dare. The ball’s in his court.
He shoves the bottle into the hand of one of his friends, slinking toward me like a panther. When he gets to me he wraps one big hand around my waist, the heat of his palm a brand against my skin. He begins to move to the song as well, and despite our massive height difference it works—we work, but I don’t let my brain linger on that thought too long.
I don’t know if he has any formal dance training, but he moves like someone who has at least some knowledge or basic understanding of rhythm. The fire crackles nearby, and I faintly taste ash on my tongue. His brows are drawn low as he watches me, our movements evenly matched as we anticipate each other’s movements. People still watch, but this time they’re not just watching me. It’s us. Normally I would be scared to put on a show like this, I’m not this bold, but after everything with Todd some spontaneity won’t kill me. In fact, I think it’ll be good for me. It also helps that on this campus no one knows who I am. I like the anonymity of it. I can be anyone.
He knows you, my conscience whispers to me.
But not really, sure he knows who I am, but Cole doesn’t know much of my past, of my hurts, the scars I bear. And tonight, I just want to be, to exist in this moment.
With both hands on my waist, he dips me backwards and my hair falls with me, the ends touching the grass. When he pulls me back up, we’re closer than before. Chest to chest. Heartbeat to heartbeat—well, maybe not quite since he’s such a giant. I crane my neck back as we sway, our hips moving in a sensual rhythm, and our eyes meet.
Lust.
Desire.
Sex.
It’s there. In his gaze. Mine too. We can’t go there, not just because we’re living together, but because I need time. To heal. To stand on my own two feet. To grow.
I pull out of his arms. “No. I can’t. I’m sorry.” I bite my lip, truly remorseful. “I’m sorry,” I repeat, taking a step back.
Another.
One more.
Until I’m disappearing into the shadows.

Hi. I’m Micalea. Ma-call-e-uh. Weird name, I know. My mom must’ve known I was going to be odd even in the womb. I’ve written a lot of books. Like a lot. Don’t ask me how many, I don’t remember at this point. I have an unhealthy addiction to Diet Coke but I can’t seem to break the habit. I listen to way too much music and hedgehogs have taken over my life. Crazy is the word that best sums up my life, but it’s the good kind of crazy and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

RELEASE BLITZ: Broken Butterfly by Jennilynn Wyer

Title: Broken Butterfly
Series: Fallen Brook #3
Author: Jennilynn Wyer
Genre: New Adult/College Romance
Release Date: May 18, 2021

BLURB

This is not your typical love story.

This is the story of a girl and four boys.

Elizabeth. Jayson. Julien. Ryder. And Fallon.

Elizabeth always called her three best friends, Jayson, Julien, and Ryder, her princes, and they called her their princess. They were inseparable. They were a family. What happens when the lines of friendship become blurred?

One man will claim her. One man will own her heart. One man will save her. And one man will break her.

Fallon

Jayson, Ryder, and Julien have loved Elizabeth since they were kids. They grew up together. Shared their lives together. They were a family. Elizabeth’s choice almost tore them apart. Then one horrible night forever changed their lives and Elizabeth was taken from them, only to return over a year later a different person. That's when things got interesting.

Elizabeth has always been my obsession. My fascination. She was the light to my dark. When her life exploded once again, she came running to me for help. Stupid girl.

You see, I have a secret. One that could destroy her.

Elizabeth thinks she’s broken. She thinks I can help fix her.

She doesn’t realize that I am as broken as she is.

She doesn’t realize that I am the villain in her love story.

Elizabeth

Fallon was the only man who could save me when my life fell apart. I wish I knew he was also the only man who could break me.

Reader’s Warning: Broken Butterfly is the highly anticipated conclusion to Elizabeth’s love story in the Fallen Brook Series. It’s a new adult & college romance full of angst, emotion, and suspense, and told in multiple POVs. Book 3 takes place in college and beyond and contains scenes that may be triggering (violence, foul language, suspense, underage drinking, and reference to Books 1 and 2’s shocking events). Sex/sexual intimacy in the book is consensual. Recommended for mature readers aged 18+. Please note that even though there are multiple love interests, it is not a RH.

The series ends with an HEA. You think you know what happens, but like life, things can change in the blink of an eye.

Enjoy!

You should read Book 1: All Our Next Times, and Book 2: Paper Stars Rewritten, to understand the events and characters in Book 3.
