Excerpt
Carefully refolding the letter, I place it gently on my nightstand. The stack of adoption paperwork is next. I skim the words, not completely sure of the lingo. My dad and Michelle’s names pop out a few times, along with the name Sarah Collins. She was sixteen when she had me. I stare at the mirror hanging on the wall opposite of my bed. She was my age. Looking down at my stomach, my hand pressing firmly into my skin, I think about how different my life would be if I had a baby right now. The stares and murmurs as I walk through school. No prom, no dating, no driving. I can’t even imagine. I finger through the rest of the paperwork before coming across another envelope with my name on it. The handwriting is loopy and unrecognizable. Opening up this one, I see that it’s from Sarah to me. My little Roly Poly, Where do I even begin? I fell in love with you the moment that test said positive. I don’t know how old you’ll be when you read this. I bet you’re a beautiful girl. I always pictured you to have chestnut hair with green eyes, just like my mom’s. You’ll probably be a mess as you grow older, getting into trouble left and right. But you’ll have the heart of an angel, caring and loving. I hate that I’m going to miss all of this. Mia, please know that I didn’t want this. Unfortunately, we don’t always get what we want. Mr. Dylan seems to be a saint of a man. I could tell from the moment I met him that he was going to take good care of you. If you ever want to get up with me, please, don’t hesitate. Mr. Dylan and I have agreed to stay in touch. So, as I sit here and stare at you, lying in the nursery with all the other babies, my heart breaks. I love you so much and I will pray every day that you are happy and well.   The letter shakes in my hands. Without hesitation, I grab my phone, dialing the cell phone number left on a contact sheet in the back. I don’t want to talk myself out of it. I just want to hear her voice. “Hello?” My tongue is suddenly made of sandpaper. I swallow some spit, hoping to find a voice. “Hello?” The voice sounds slightly irritated. “Sarah?” My words come out like a choke, and I cough to clear my voice. “Sarah Collins?” Now she’s silent and I could hear her shift on the other end. “Yes?” I clear my throat once more. “Sarah, my name is Mia. I’m...I’m your daughter.”

Excerpt
Tomorrow comes awfully fast and the day flies by. Maybe it’s because I’m not exactly thrilled about watching people have sex all by myself. It makes me wonder what kind of things people ask to see when they have requests. All I can say is that I feel like a creeper.
Chris walks into my office and stops when he gets a good look at my face. “Whoa, why are you so red?”
Glancing at the clock, I sigh. “Because in a couple of hours, I have to watch three people have sex in the viewing room.” He knows that I’m doing my own investigative work, but I never told him exactly what I’m doing until now.
He bursts out laughing. “Are you serious? What if it’s not the guy you’re looking for?”
I shrug. “Then I guess I’ll be watching these people have sex.”
“This is classic. I was going to ask you to go to dinner with me, but you’ll be too busy.”
I roll my eyes. “Ha-ha. I’d much rather be getting some dinner. I think I’m just going to stay here until it’s time to go.”
He tries to hide his smile and fails. “Have fun with that. You’ll have to let me know how it went in the morning.” He chuckles the entire time he walks to his office and then out the front door. I’ll never be able to escape him now; he’ll make fun of me for the rest of our lives.
Once everyone leaves, I eat the rest of my turkey sandwich I had left over from lunch while I look over my notes on Chad Bates. Jennifer never texted to tell me if he was going to be at the club or not, so I guess I’ll just have to find out when I get there. I wonder if Hunter’s ever done something like that … had sex with two girls on stage in front of an audience. That’s one of the reasons why I can never get serious about him. How can I when he does that for a living?
My time is running out so I close up the office and head to the club. The parking lot is packed, but I slip on my necklace and get out of the car. I try to ignore the evil looks from everyone standing in line as I walk up to the door. Luckily, Jared is right inside, dressed in his tux and his dark hair perfectly coifed.
“Good evening,” he says, taking my purse. It’s going to be hard to pin anything on Chad without physical proof. Maybe I can try to sneak in a hidden camera next time. Jared nods for me to follow him and we go through the door that leads to the sex rooms. Placing his hand on the doorknob, he smiles at me. “You ready?”
           I laugh. “I hope so.”
We walk inside and he points to the purple, velvet couch. It’s the same place my co-workers sat when Hunter and I were on stage. “All you have to do is sit here and watch the show. If for some reason you have to leave, just press that blue button,” he says, pointing to it on the wall. “That way, I’ll know to come in and get you.”
I nod. “Thanks. I think I got it.”
He starts toward the door. “Enjoy the show.”

BLOG TOUR: El Diablo by M. Robinson

BLOG TOUR September 6th-20th
EL DIABLO
USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR M. ROBINSON
COVER DESIGN: THE FINAL WRAP
RELEASE DATE: AUGUST 30TH, 2016

I was ruthless.
I was feared.
I had sacrificed. Myself. Her. Everything...
Living in a world where I was worth more dead than alive was a choice. I was a bad man, never claimed to be anything else. I’ve done things I’m not proud of. Seen things that can’t be unseen. I’ve caused pain that I can’t undo.
It was all my choice.
Every decision.
Every order.
Right and wrong never mattered.
Until her.
She was under my protection, until she became my obsession.
But who was going to save her...
From. Me. The devil himself.

Fate brought us together. Destiny destroyed us.

“Go stretch again, cariño,” I ordered in a dominant tone. Nodding to the barre.
“I’m fine,” she stubbornly replied. Shaking her legs and arms out. Getting back into position, looking at me through the mirror.
I cocked my head to the side, arching an eyebrow. She narrowed her eyes at me, but begrudgingly listened. I pressed play, allowing the melody to once again take over. She placed her leg on the lowest barre, making her ass stick out in my direction.
Tempting me.
She closed her eyes, needing to get lost in the music, wanting to push away all the negative thoughts, already feeling discouraged. I stood, taking off my suit jacket. Rolling up the sleeves of my collared shirt as I stepped onto the hardwood floor. I slowly came up behind her, catching her off guard.
She froze, turning around, opening her eyes. Peering up at me through her lashes. “What are you doing?”
I leaned forward against her ear, grinning. “I’m helping you stretch.” Getting down on my knees in front of her.
Her eyes dilated. The feeling of disappointment replaced with nothing but lust. She placed her arms out to the side, resting up against the barre, supporting her weight. I grabbed her ankle, lifting it up in the air, rubbing along her leg as it was fully stretched, before setting it on the lowest barre. Running my other hand up her side, easing her over toward the extended leg. She understood what I was doing, reaching for her ankle, stretching. Standing back up, bringing her arms above her head, I caressed along her leg again, casually turning her torso so her leg was still placed on the barre behind her.
Her breathing hitched as I touched her all over her lower body. My lips softly kissing the inside of her thigh to where she wanted my mouth the most.

EXCERPT REVEAL: White Lies by Kristin Mayer

Excerpt Reveal

White Lies Ebook

Excerpt

A hand trailed up my back as Alex held me. Goose bumps formed in the wake of his touch as I lay on his chest in the darkened hotel room. My fingers traced the military tattoo on his chest I couldn't see but knew was there. The two knives intercepting each other with the inscription I will not accept defeat were over his heart.
“I miss this. Being together tonight feels like when we first started dating. I’m sorry I called you Gabe earlier. I know how you hate that. Old habits.”
My husband’s full name was Gabriel Alexander Thompson. All of his friends called him Gabriel when we first met while I was in college. He was on leave from the military. It had been a chance meeting in a random town as I crossed a street. Fate happened, bringing two people who were meant for each other together. Though I'd tried to take things slow, something between us clicked, and I fell madly in love with him before I realized it. Honestly, it was insane how fast we fell in love. Maybe too fast. But I don’t believe I could have stopped it if I tried.
On our first date, I called him Gabe, and it stuck. At least until he asked me to call him Alex shortly after returning from his last military mission. All of his friends who died overseas called him Gabriel, and it was hard for him to hear a shortened version. I got needing to distance yourself completely from painful reminders. I hadn’t been to Italy since Dad died for that very reason.
The muscles in Alex’s body tightened and then released while he dragged his right hand through his dark hair. Even in the dark, I felt his emerald eyes watching me. His voice was strained when he finally spoke. “Sweetheart, we’re going to find our way back to each other. We’ll get back to the place when we were Gabe and Willow, not Alex and Willow. I’m working through it. I promise you, I’ll never upset you again like I did this afternoon when I found you.”
I kissed his chest and then sighed. “I’m not going to Nonno to try and get him to release my trust. It’s not what Dad would have wanted. We have plenty to live on. I don’t want to fight, but that point I’m not budging on.”
Fingers paused on my back before continuing. I braced myself for the anger to return. “It’s your decision. I’ll respect that.” A small victory—a step in the right direction.
After kissing him again, I laid my ear against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. “We might want to think about couple’s therapy. When you came back after leaving the military, something has been missing. It might help us get a new start. I want to make this work.”
“That’s what I want too—a fresh start. For us.”
I smiled at his words. “Thank you for coming back to me.”
“I promised I always would.”
***
The memory was beautiful. Magical. Through the night, Alex woke me up twice to make love to me. Love. It was the key to everything. For now, I would focus on the memories of last night in order to hold on to hope to save my marriage until I saw him again. I read his words again. I love you, Willow. I never stopped.
Inspiration struck.
I needed to get home.
